The trip is based out of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Røros for 6 days and 6 nights. Winter adventure includes introductory Arctic Expedition Training, Sami experience and reindeer sledding, culinary and cultural experience, and dog sledding.

 

[Day 1] Arrival & Destination Røros

Welcome to the Winter Wonderland! Your adventure awaits. There’s no better way to start than hot soup and fresh bread at Ertzeidergården.

[Day 2] Destination Røros: Part 1

Learn why this award-winning sustainable destination also is a UNESCO World Heritage Site Røros. Today, the small town of Røros is almost like a living museum, and the entire town center with its authentic wooden structures is protected, with many listed buildings. At the same time, this is also a town in full use with a history that is still unfolding. Destination Røros has great winter experiences on offer – for big and small. Turn your back on the hectic day-to-day, and spend quality time with your family.

  • Experience the Sami culture: Here at Røros, experience the Sami indigenous culture and ancient form of traveling -reindeer sledding!
  • Eat, eat, eat!: More than 50 independent food producers are creating a great culinary scene at Røros. No place in Norway is near to this density of high-quality local food. We usually also have beer-tasting included on our tours. Cheers!
  • Did you know?: The producers of Disney’s ”Frozen” spent one week at Røros for filming and inspiration. One of their reindeer formed the reindeer ”Sven” and Magne Haugom inspired is seen in the main character and hero ”Kristoff”.

 

[DAY 3-4] Introduction to the Arctic Training & Expedition

This 1 night/ 2 day course is perfect for those of who want to experience the art of polar thinking and survival.

  • Arctic Expedition course: Included in this itinerary is a two days polar expedition “crash course” that will give you a taste of how it is to be a polar explorer. You will spend one night outdoors in expedition tents and learn how to trust yourself and your equipment in low temperatures. Fun is always guaranteed!
  • About the course: It was originally designed to prepare expedition participants for North- and South Pole and Greenland crossings. Through the years the course has evolved and broadened so that it appeals a far wider expedition audience.
  • Did you know?: Many visitors are often pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and cozy it is to spend the night in the expedition tent. Experience it yourself!

[Day 5] Destination Røros: Part 2

As you explore Røros’ narrow streets, old courtyards and buildings, you will find an amazing number of charming shops and interesting workshops. The town is famous for its great number of artists and craftsmen, and it can also boast of an impressive list of award-winning designer products.

Except for the northernmost area, Røros has an inland climate with little precipitation but with large temperature variations between summer and winter. Røros is particularly popular in the winter, with its crisp white snow – a sparkling white winter dream.

 

[Day 6] Dog sledding & Holiday celebration

Drive your own dog team in the Norwegian wilderness & Happy holidays!

  • Did you know?: Alaskan husky is the most commonly used dog in dog sled racing.
    The Huskies are strong dogs, and they are at their happiest when work is hard and the temperature is low.
    In other words, huskies are the perfect choice as companions when you steer your sled through the wild and picturesque wilderness.
  • Run with the Huskies!: This day you will learn how to handle and drive your own team of huskies into the wonderful winter landscape of Røros.
