Designed around the Norwegian concept of ‘friluftsliv’ Hotel Spruce has gained its five thousand star status due to its truly galactic views and dedication to delivering world-class nature based experiences.
Charismatic backwoodsman Geir Vie and “hotel director”, polar guide and ex-navy special forces Petter Thorsen invites you to enjoy a uniquely Norwegian nature experience. Despite Petter’s military background, dining at Hotel Spruce is about as far from bland dehydrated field rations as you can get.
Evenings are for relaxing around the camp fire slowly enjoying freshly caught trout or arctic char, succulent pan seared reindeer fillet, slow growing seasonal vegetables and hand picked forest mushrooms. Exceptional local food is at the heart of the Hotel Spruce experience.
Our days are spent hiking, foraging and enjoying the rugged and spectacular landscape. Hotel Spruce is a suitable experience for anyone who wants to reconnect with nature in the company of family, friends or colleagues. We’ll coach you on how to immerse yourself in a slower pace to life, how to forage, relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
With direct flight access into Trondheim Airport (TRD) from several European capitals Hotel Spruce can be a unique choice for team building or corporate events. The outdoor environment clears the mind and stimulates creative ideas and thinking. We can set challenges that test problem solving and resolve or offer ‘bush craft’ seminars and foraging workshops.
Although our hotel locations are secret Hotel Spruce is always beautifully located close to water near the Øvre Forra Nature Reserve and Ramsar wetland site in Trøndelag, Norway. There’s a great abundance of birdlife including numerous rare and endangered species including Golden eagle and Great snipe. Flora and fauna species lists are available on request and we can custom design specialist small group photographic or birding experiences.
