About

What can be seen in Norway in winter?

From three different photo sheds you get the opportunity to observe some of the most charismatic birds of Europe. We have two photo sheds for the Golden eagle and one for the Northern Gooshawk.

In winter, when the weather is on our side, it is even possible to do boat trips to get images of the Sea eagle. The Common Eider is easy to approach and Elks can be photographed. And close to a nearby river there is a large population of Dippers.

Many believe there is no proper daylight in Trøndelag during winter. That is not the case. During the shortest days of the year there are still many possibilities to take daylight pictures for a few hours. The short daylight means more nightsky. On a clear starry night we might see the amazing Aurora Borealis dancing across the sky. That is a priceless sight.

Besides from the Golden eagle, Northern Gooshawk, Common Eider, Dippers and Elks, there are numerous species that we can observe:

  • White-tailed Sea Eagles
  • Eurasian Jay
  • Bullfinch
  • Crested Tit
  • Coal Tit
  • Common Shag
  • Cormorant
  • Great-black backed Gull
  • Herring Gull
  • Krykkje (Kittiwake – Rissa Tridaetyla)

and amongst wildlife:

  • Red squirrels
  • Otters
  • Elks/Moose

And of course countless spectacular landscape motives. Welcome to wintery Norway!
