Our Wild Guests: Carly Monahan of #ExtraordinaryExperiences with World Nomads

“I’d heard countless stories and legends about Norway and its people, past and present, over my three decades. Each bit added greater dimension to my own mind’s version of this magical place, and undisputedly the ultimate winter wonderland. So, as my trip with Wild Norway loomed near, I began to wonder if my expectations were too high to avoid serious disappointment…

Nope. Nei. No way.

The folks at Wild Norway let me in on their secrets (maybe?) and gave me an excellent peak into this magical land that I’d been dreaming about for so long. Each and every guide/tour-operator/small-business-owner I met harbors a deep sense of place, grounding them to the history and the wildness of this place they call home. Such a connection makes it hard not to pass along enthusiasm and reverence for the landscape and its culture. Though humbly understated, as seems typical of Trøndelag folks, their love for their home and their work is easy to see.
Another huge perk for those of us who decide to tour Trøndelag with Wild Norway is the diversity of activities and places. From zipping across the open plateaus above Røros on snøscooters to visit a cozy family cabin; to ski-camping near Dovrefjell Park, following the tracks of its non-human inhabitants and hoping for a glimpse of these quiet critters; to flying across the pine-dotted Meråker fjells with a team of five energetic Huskies, there was endless scenery and excitement. When we’d had our fill of activity in the cold, fresh air, there were multi-course meals to sate our hunger, soothing reindeer-sleigh rides to calm our minds, and luxurious saunas + baths to rest our weary legs.

A whirlwind of adventures, a cast of characters, a palette of flavors and colors; all just a glimpse of Wild Norway.

Tusen Takk!
